Merrett is available for private commissions and a personalised head will cost between £1,000 and £2,500

1.  What is the first step a client should take if they are interested in commissioning a head sculpture?
- Talk to me. My mobile number is 07733267730.

2. How do you collaborate with clients to ensure their vision is reflected in the final sculpture?
-Talk, and then I allow the client time to pause, reflect, and talk again.

3.  hat information do you typically need from a client before starting a commissioned piece?
- The why, who for, and when, usually covers it!

4.  Can clients request specific materials, embellishments, or styles for their commissioned head sculpture?
- Yes, and this is to be encouraged. It can be what makes a piece particularly personal.

5.  How do you keep clients updated on the progress of their commissioned piece?
- Photos mid-process are not helpful. They show very little of the finished sculpture and can be misleading. But we communicate and agreed deadlines are confirmed along the way.

6.  What is the typical timeline for completing a commissioned head sculpture?
- Currently 3 months, max, sometimes less, but my circumstances do change according to exhibition deadlines.

7.  How do you handle revisions or changes requested by the client during the sculpting process? (If relevant!)
- I hope to front load the decisions so revisions are not needed or encouraged. To start sculpting, clients pay a 60% deposit and the balance is on completion.

If they are unhappy with the final piece, there is no need to pay the balance, and I keep the sculpture. I’m happy to say this has never happened.

8.  What should clients consider when deciding where to display their commissioned head sculpture? Do you help clients install/position their sculptures in their own homes? Is there any other guidance or support (ie. lighting/cleaning tips) for clients after they receive their commissioned sculpture?

- I can advise on positioning and installing the sculpture, and this discussion is helpful before I start work. I can also advise on cleaning and lighting. I don’t generally visit but have delivered personally sometimes.

9.  What do you hope clients take away from the experience of commissioning a head sculpture with you?
- I hope the client ‘gets what they want’ and feel proud to show the sculpture to their friends and family. I am aware what a ‘big thing’ commissioning can be/feel, and I hope my clients to feel comfortable and rather than exposed.

The following pieces have provided inspiration for commissions:
Golden Balls, Rouge Rogue, Joy Above, Head Noise, Green Monster, Reflector, Lucky?, and Time.
